Alkhorayef also underscored the kingdom’s leadership in the mining sector, with its mineral resources valued at $2.5 trillion.
Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Bandar Alkhorayef, underscored the Kingdom’s dedication to clean energy and sustainable industrial practices during his speech at the Saudi Green Initiative (SGI) Forum in Riyadh.
Held under the theme “Action is in our nature,” the forum aligns with the 16th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD).
Alkhorayef revealed that the NEOM green hydrogen project is poised to supply 10% of the world’s green hydrogen demand, aligning with the Kingdom’s broader goal of promoting clean energy sources and reducing carbon emissions.
Among the initiatives highlighted was the recently launched Liquid Fuel Displacement Program, which aims to cut carbon emissions across Saudi Arabia’s industrial facilities.
Alkhorayef praised Jubail Industrial City as a prime example of harmonizing industrial expansion with environmental preservation. He also emphasized the Kingdom’s leadership in the mining sector, with its mineral wealth estimated at $2.5 trillion.
The minister showcased sustainable mining practices through the phosphate mine in Wa’ad Al-Shamal, celebrated for its commitment to environmental safety, community development, and educational outreach. Additionally, he detailed Saudi Arabia’s advancements in transforming raw materials into high-value products, such as converting bauxite into aluminum for industries like aviation and automotive manufacturing.
