Saudi Arabia launches SAMAI to train one million citizens in artificial intelligence
The "One Million Saudis in AI" program aims to build national tech talent, support Vision 2030, and position KSA as a global leader in AI innovation.

Artificial intelligence (AI) has transitioned from a futuristic idea to a transformative force reshaping industries, redefining economies, and altering the fabric of society. As AI becomes more deeply integrated into everyday life, countries across the globe are striving to harness its potential, invest in research, and prepare their populations for a future driven by intelligent technologies. In particular, education and workforce readiness have emerged as critical priorities, especially for nations aiming to lead in innovation and digital transformation.
Saudi Arabia, acknowledging the transformative potential of AI, has made strategic investments in digital infrastructure, research, and human capital development as part of its ambitious Vision 2030 agenda. Central to this vision is the conviction that the Kingdom’s greatest asset is its people, and that equipping them with the skills of the future is essential for sustainable growth and global competitiveness. In line with these objectives, a national initiative has been launched to enhance Saudi Arabia’s capabilities in artificial intelligence on an unprecedented scale.
The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), in partnership with the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, has officially opened registration for the “One Million Saudis in AI” (SAMAI) program. This national initiative invites citizens from all age groups and professional backgrounds to register and begin their AI journey through the official platform.
SAMAI is designed to empower one million Saudi men and women with the knowledge and practical tools needed to thrive in an AI-driven world. The program offers training in data science, machine learning, AI applications, and ethical AI practices. It also provides hands-on experience with technologies rapidly shaping the modern workforce.
Launched during the third Global AI Summit in Riyadh in September 2023, SAMAI is the largest initiative of its kind. It represents Saudi Arabia’s commitment to becoming a global leader in technology by nurturing local talent and fostering a culture of innovation.
