Since the 2021 launch of the Saudi Green Initiative, Saudi Arabia has planted over 95 million trees through the National Afforestation Program and partnerships with government, private sector, and non-profit organizations. These efforts have also rehabilitated over 118,000 hectares of degraded land and protected 4.3 million hectares currently under restoration.

According to the center, natural vegetation growth has reached 7.1 million in measured areas, showcasing significant progress in enhancing and preserving the kingdom’s vegetation cover.

The National Center for Vegetation Development and Combating Desertification has been instrumental in these efforts, focusing on protecting and monitoring vegetation cover, rehabilitating degraded areas, combating logging, and managing pastures, forests, and national parks.

With over 121 partners, Saudi Arabia is making significant strides toward the Saudi Green Initiative and Vision 2030 goals, contributing to reduced carbon emissions, improved quality of life, and climate change mitigation.
