Over the years, the Esports industry has experienced explosive growth, driven by increasing investments, live streaming, and a surge in viewership. The global Esports market is projected to reach an impressive $9.29 billion by 2032.

The Middle East and Africa region has become a significant player in this landscape, with gaming revenues hitting $7.2 billion in 2023. The region’s gamer population, estimated at 68 million in 2022, is expected to grow to 87 million by 2026.

According to PwC Middle East, countries like Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Egypt have been leading this growth, hosting major tournaments and investing in gaming infrastructure.

Saudi Arabia is making significant strides to establish itself as a global Esports hub. The kingdom’s National Gaming and Esports Sector Strategy sets ambitious goals, including developing the gaming value chain, creating 39,000 jobs, and contributing $13.3 billion to GDP by 2030.

Plans also include the construction of the world’s first comprehensive gaming district, which is expected to attract 10 million visitors annually.

The Saudi Esports Federation (SEF) is at the forefront of these efforts, organizing premier local leagues like the Saudi eLeague, global tournaments such as GAMERS8, and grassroots events including school leagues.

With 67% of its population—approximately 23.5 million—actively engaged in gaming and nearly 1,000 full-time Esports players, Saudi Arabia is well-positioned to become a leading global Esports hub.
