Saudi Arabia’s entertainment industry is poised for significant growth as the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) launches the third edition of its accelerator program, which will support 32 startups.
According to the Saudi Press Agency, the initiative seeks to foster innovation, encourage entrepreneurship, and shape the future of the Kingdom’s entertainment sector.
This 10-month accelerator program offers startups various resources, including mentorship, consulting, co-working spaces, and international exposure. Each cohort, consisting of 16 companies, will receive 192 hours of expert guidance and two international trips to gain insights into global market trends.
Aligned with Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 goals of diversifying the economy, the program is set to play a crucial role in strengthening the entertainment sector. Projections indicate that the industry will generate 450,000 jobs and contribute 4.2% to the country’s GDP by 2030. The program aims to foster innovation, attract investment, and position Saudi Arabia as a leading entertainment hub in the region.
The accelerator builds on the success of its previous editions. The first edition, launched in 2023, received 260 project registrations and selected 14 startups after a thorough evaluation process. Entrepreneurs benefited from weekly workshops, personalized consulting, and opportunities to connect with potential investors.
The second edition, launched mid-2023, expanded efforts to help startups navigate market challenges and achieve long-term growth. Customized programs supported participants in overcoming industry-specific hurdles, enhancing their chances of success. As part of a broader strategy to foster the Kingdom’s growing entertainment sector, the GEA’s accelerator aims to create an environment conducive to innovation, business growth, and international collaboration.
In addition to extensive mentorship and training, participants also benefited from 56 hours of expert consultations in June 2023, where key insights were shared by prominent Saudi entrepreneurs and industry experts. Building on the successes of previous editions, the third edition is poised to continue driving progress in the entertainment sector, further contributing to Saudi Arabia’s dynamic economic transformation.
