The Saudi Ministry of Energy, in collaboration with “The Garage,” has launched the Taqatech Accelerator program to promote innovation, environmental sustainability, and economic diversification in the Kingdom’s energy sector.

The initiative was announced in the presence of Minister of Energy Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz and Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha.

Developed in partnership with leading energy companies, academic institutions, and research centers, the accelerator aims to enhance collaboration between startups, entrepreneurs, and government entities.

It aims to support high-potential ventures through mentorship in both technical and technological domains, while also facilitating access to investors.

The program targets startups focused on advancing energy efficiency, reducing operational costs, localizing energy technologies, and generating employment opportunities. It also supports ventures that contribute to environmental sustainability, emissions reduction, and clean energy solutions, reinforcing Saudi Arabia’s position in global energy markets.

Structured to run over three years, the accelerator will support three cohorts of 20 startups each. The program includes four key phases: exploration and selection, acceleration, pilot project implementation, and investment rounds, spanning six to 12 months.

Through this framework, the initiative seeks to enhance the role of the private sector in advancing the Kingdom’s energy transition and innovation agenda.

The Garage, a repurposed 28,000-square-meter facility, accommodates over 300 startups. It features 24 meeting rooms, event space for up to 1,000 attendees, and designated workshop areas. The facility consolidates incubators, accelerators, and support services in a single location.
