The Heritage Commission has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) to expand the use of data-driven technologies and artificial intelligence across the Kingdom’s cultural heritage sector. The partnership aims to advance digital tools that document, preserve, and showcase Saudi Arabia’s heritage, thereby strengthening its online presence.

The agreement was formalized during the Digital Heritage Conference 2025, held in Riyadh on December 9 and 10 under the patronage of Minister of Culture Prince Bader bin Abdullah bin Farhan. The conference brought together experts, policymakers, and technology partners to discuss the growing role of digital innovation in cultural preservation.

The MoU outlines a shared commitment to utilizing advanced data and analytical tools to enhance the inventory, documentation, and assessment of heritage assets, thereby supporting evidence-based decision-making and fostering a stronger knowledge ecosystem.

The collaboration also paves the way for joint initiatives focused on enriching digital heritage content and deploying AI applications that interpret historical and cultural material. These efforts are expected to make heritage resources more accessible to the public while improving preservation practices across the sector.
