Sharjah and Oman boost investment ties through virtual workshop
Virtual session hosted by SEDD promotes key sectors and opportunities in Sharjah, reinforcing bilateral trade and investment collaboration

The Sharjah Economic Development Department (SEDD), in coordination with the UAE Embassy in the Sultanate of Oman and the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI), hosted a virtual workshop to promote investment opportunities and deepen economic ties between Sharjah and Oman.
The event brought together government officials, private sector representatives, and investors from both countries to explore Sharjah’s most promising economic sectors. Participants discussed opportunities in manufacturing, industrial zones, supply chains, and transformation industries, showcasing Sharjah’s growing role as a regional investment hub.
Hamad Ali Abdalla Al Mahmoud, Chairman of SEDD, emphasized the emirate’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment that supports long-term investment and economic sustainability.
“Sharjah continuously adopts advanced policies and services to simplify investor procedures and stimulate economic growth. This is part of our leadership’s vision to attract high-quality investments and support the emirate’s development,” Al Mahmoud said, referencing the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, and H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi.
The workshop, led by Dr. Amr Saleh, Economic Advisor at SEDD, featured a comprehensive presentation covering Sharjah’s economic growth, licensing and establishment trends over the past decade, trade volume between Sharjah and Oman, and key investment indicators. Attendees also examined ongoing development projects and investment opportunities in established sectors.
The session also included contributions from Masoud Obaid Al Mazrouei, Head of Economic Affairs Section at the UAE Embassy in Oman, along with senior officials from OCCI. Discussions focused on expanding cooperation in priority sectors such as industrial and commercial investment, while promoting knowledge-sharing and collaboration between business communities in both regions.
At the close of the workshop, participants agreed on the importance of continuous coordination and communication between Omani and Emirati investors. Strengthening these channels, they said, would help drive trade, facilitate investment, and build a long-term economic partnership that benefits both sides.
