In a move set to propel the emirate’s digital transformation, the Sharjah Communication Technologies Authority (SCTA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a joint venture between BEEAH and Khazna Data Centers (Khazna). This collaboration aims to establish a network of Tier 3 data centers across Sharjah, with the first and largest one planned for Kalba.

The project, witnessed by high-ranking Sharjah officials, marks a significant milestone in the emirate’s digital future. The data centers will not only provide advanced infrastructure but also prioritize sustainability, setting a new benchmark for the region.

Under the terms of the MoU, SCTA will oversee regulatory matters, secure land leases, and ensure the necessary power infrastructure and connectivity for the data centers. Meanwhile, Khazna and BEEAH will bring their combined expertise to develop state-of-the-art, sustainable digital infrastructure.

Rashid Ali Al Ali of SCTA described the MoU as a key milestone for Sharjah, positioning the emirate to build an advanced digital infrastructure that aligns with the UAE’s vision of becoming a global leader in AI and digital technology.

Khaled Al Huraimel of BEEAH highlighted the company’s focus on sustainability, noting that the joint venture will prioritize renewable energy to power Sharjah’s largest Tier 3 data center and future facilities.

To further enhance sustainability, the partnership will explore waste-to-energy power solutions, greywater recycling, and other technologies to reduce energy use and maintenance while maximizing uptime.

This collaboration marks BEEAH’s expansion into data center infrastructure, building on its reputation for sustainability and technological innovation. BEEAH has already achieved significant milestones in waste management and energy efficiency, notably through its Sharjah Waste to Energy plant and digital platforms like re.life and SmartTrack.
