The number of businesswomen in the UAE and their economic contributions have steadily risen, bolstered by strong government and societal support.

According to a recent report from the Emirates Businesswomen Council, women’s participation in the UAE workforce increased to 34.6% in 2024, up from 32.5% in 2023. The report also highlights that businesswomen now represent 18% of all entrepreneurs in the UAE, with 77.6% of women-led businesses being managed by women under forty.

The report also reveals that nearly 48.8% of these women occupy executive director roles, while 61.4% are sole proprietors of their businesses, highlighting a significant rise in female entrepreneurship. In the first half of 2024 alone, Emirati businesswomen established over 2,000 new enterprises, accounting for about 22% of all new business registrations in the UAE.

Additionally, businesswomen are driving innovation in renewable energy and environmental sustainability. Key initiatives include solar energy projects utilizing residential and commercial rooftops, a startup focused on remote healthcare services through virtual reality with an investment of $54 million, and an eCommerce platform linking local artisans with the global market, which generated over $41 million in its first year.
