The Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) and the UAE Ministry of Economy have teamed up to establish the Dubai Intellectual Property Hub (DIPH), the UAE’s first centralized platform for intellectual property (IP) and intangible assets (IA).

Announced at the IP2024: Glimpse on the Future of IP event at the Museum of the Future, the initiative aims to empower innovators, artists, entrepreneurs, researchers, academics, and startups. The collaboration includes integrating the Ministry of Economy’s IA registration feature into the DIPH, streamlining the process for those looking to protect their intellectual property.

The initiative supports the We the UAE 2031 vision, which aims to establish the UAE as a global economic leader and one of the top ten destinations for talent and creativity over the next decade.

Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, the Minister of Economy, emphasized that the DIPH is designed to equip creators and researchers with the essential tools and resources to secure and formalize their innovations, ultimately driving economic growth.

Khalfan Belhoul, CEO of DFF, said, “The collaboration with the Ministry of Economy in developing this platform is part of ongoing efforts to advance the UAE’s legislative framework, strengthen the readiness of all economic sectors, and create a robust R&D ecosystem. By providing vital tools for businesses to thrive, we aim to support their growth and expansion within the UAE, the region, and globally.”

“The launch of Dubai IP Hub seeks to create a comprehensive and reliable resource for entrepreneurs, offering seamless access to essential information, resources, guidance, and cost details related to intellectual property registration. We remain committed to working with key stakeholders across government, legislative, academic, and entrepreneurial sectors to cement Dubai and the UAE’s position as global leaders in creativity and innovation,” he added.

The Dubai Intellectual Property Hub (DIPH) will concentrate on four key pillars, providing clear guidelines for registering various types of intellectual property through an efficient digital interface. It aims to be a comprehensive resource for information and guidance on IP protection and its commercial applications.

Additionally, the hub will feature a user-friendly digital platform that consolidates all information, tools, guidelines, and resources into a single, easily accessible location.
