UAE leads Middle East in 2025 World Happiness Report, ranks 21st globally

The UAE has secured the 21st spot in the 2025 World Happiness Report, outperforming the UK, US, and France, and ranking first in the MENA region.

The annual report, compiled by Gallup, assesses life satisfaction in 147 countries based on data from 2022 to 2024. Finland remains the world’s happiest country for the eighth consecutive year, while Mexico and Costa Rica have joined the top 10. The US placed 24th.

In the Arab world, Kuwait ranked 30th globally and secured second place regionally, followed by Saudi Arabia at 32nd globally and third in the region. Oman came in 52nd globally, placing fourth in the Arab world, while Bahrain ranked 59th globally and fifth regionally. Libya followed in 79th place globally and sixth in the region, with Algeria at 84th and seventh in the Arab world. Iraq ranked 101st globally, placing eighth regionally, and the Palestinian Territories took 108th globally and ninth in the Arab world.

The report measures national happiness levels based on a range of factors, including GDP per capita, social support, healthy life expectancy, freedom to make life choices, perceptions of corruption, and generosity.
