UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Abu Dhabi Customs sign MoU to boost digital integration and smart services

In a move that highlights the UAE’s commitment to digital transformation and intergovernmental collaboration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) and the General Administration of Abu Dhabi Customs have signed a strategic Memorandum of Understanding. The agreement aims to establish a comprehensive framework for secure data and information exchange and to enable digital integration between the two government entities.

The partnership reflects a shared vision to enhance government service delivery, strengthen institutional coordination, and promote a culture of collaboration in line with the strategic objectives of the Government of Abu Dhabi and the broader UAE.

The MoU was formally signed at MoFA’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi by Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi, Under-Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori, Director-General of Abu Dhabi Customs.

The agreement focuses on developing a secure and integrated digital system for electronic data exchange. It aims to promote effective information sharing, strengthen data governance and protection, and support the delivery of flexible, high-quality smart, interconnected services.

Omar Obaid Alhesan Alshamsi affirmed, “The partnership with Abu Dhabi Customs, through secure electronic integration and seamless data exchange, represents a key pillar in supporting digital transformation and achieving the goals of the Zero Government Bureaucracy Programme.” He added that the Ministry is committed to leveraging artificial intelligence and advanced technologies to build a proactive digital ecosystem that simplifies processes, saves time, and eliminates redundancies.

Rashed Lahej Al Mansoori expressed pride in the collaboration, stating, “The MoU marks a pivotal milestone in Abu Dhabi Customs’ efforts to enhance digital integration with government entities.” He emphasized that such partnerships are central to creating a smart customs ecosystem aligned with the UAE’s vision for a diversified, knowledge-based economy.
