UAE’s cybersecurity systems repel 634 attacks on public and private sectors
Dr. AlKuwaiti noted that around 140,000 entities worldwide were likely impacted by the breach, with 634 of them located in the UAE.

The UAE Government’s Cybersecurity Council confirmed that national cybersecurity systems successfully thwarted cyberattacks targeting 634 government and private entities. The attacks, which aimed to leak sensitive data from critical sectors, were neutralized using advanced global cybersecurity measures.
Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of Cybersecurity for the UAE Government, told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that a cybercriminal group identified as “rose87168” had claimed responsibility for breaching Oracle Cloud’s SSO and LDAP systems. The breach led to the leak of around six million customer records globally, including sensitive password data.
Dr. Al Kuwaiti noted that approximately 140,000 entities worldwide were likely affected by the breach, including 634 in the UAE—comprising 30 government entities, 13 private organizations, and the rest from various sectors.
The Cybersecurity Council stated that emergency cyber defense systems were promptly activated across the country, in coordination with relevant authorities, to safeguard the UAE’s digital infrastructure and strengthen its resilience against further hacking attempts and threats.
The Council urged all government and private entities to strengthen their cybersecurity protocols, enhance preparedness, and promptly report any suspicious activity targeting their systems.
It also emphasized the need for continued vigilance and the adoption of advanced security practices to counter the growing threat of cybercrime, especially as hacking and fraud techniques become increasingly sophisticated.
