The UAE will continue strengthening its position as a leading winter destination in the region in 2025. The nation has climbed to 18th place globally in the World Economic Forum’s 2024 Travel & Tourism Development Index, maintaining its leadership in tourism development within the region. This global ranking is expected to drive an estimated $27.2 billion in investments and attract upwards of 40 million hotel guests to the UAE.

Dubai, in particular, has experienced tourism growth, solidifying its status as a global travel hotspot. In 2024, the emirate welcomed 14.4 million international visitors, a 16% increase from 2023. This growth is fueled by Dubai’s expanding offerings in luxury, culture, and entertainment, along with its reputation as a global events hub. The city’s thriving retail sector, world-class dining, and iconic attractions have all contributed to the surge in tourism.

Additionally, Dubai has seen a rise in demand for niche experiences, including wellness tourism, eco-friendly travel, and adventure activities. The city has also experienced a significant increase in short-term leisure trips, driven by the growth of low-cost carriers and the ease of travel from neighboring regions. Dubai’s prominence as a top destination for MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) events has further strengthened its tourism sector, with major international conferences and exhibitions drawing global crowds each year.

According to the World Travel & Tourism Council, the UAE welcomed 29.2 million international visitors in 2024, marking a 15.5% increase compared to 2023. The council projects this number will rise to 45.5 million by 2033, as reported by WAM. The UAE remains the only Middle Eastern country in the top 10 for international tourism revenue, with winter serving as the peak season for tourism.

Through the launch of its fifth “World’s Coolest Winter” campaign, the UAE highlights its diverse destinations and tailored tourism experiences. This initiative targets domestic and international visitors and celebrates the country’s 53 years of growth as a global tourism hub.

The campaign showcases various winter activities, including desert safaris, mountain adventures, camping, and wadi exploration. Tourists can enjoy experiences across the UAE’s mountains, deserts, coastlines, and nature reserves, with opportunities for paragliding, rock climbing, and rappelling.

Ongoing infrastructure projects further enhance the UAE’s appeal as a winter tourism hotspot, offering everything from traditional desert camping and camel rides to stargazing beneath the desert sky.
