As the UAE continues to promote civic engagement and social responsibility, the Year of Community 2025 initiative, launched under the theme “Hand in Hand”, has partnered with Emirates Foundation to expand volunteer opportunities and encourage greater public participation nationwide. This collaboration supports the national vision of fostering a more connected, compassionate, and resilient society.

Since January 2025, the partnership has resulted in a significant rise in volunteer participation. The value of volunteer contributions has surpassed $33.5 million, reflecting a 14.7% increase compared to the previous year. This growth highlights both the expanding spirit of social responsibility and the measurable economic value of volunteerism.

To build on this momentum, Emirates Foundation plans to launch new initiatives that will enable individuals to contribute their time and skills in ways that align with the goals of the Year of Community, while promoting a more focused and results-driven approach to volunteering.

Mohamed Al Hosani, Director of Programmes at Emirates Foundation, said, “This year we have witnessed a 22.7% increase in the number of volunteers on the Volunteers.ae platform compared to 2024. The dedication and enthusiasm of the volunteers highlight their genuine desire to give back to society, and our partnership with the Year of Community allows us to expand our impact in tangible ways.”

Core programs such as Takatof, Sanid, and Volunteers.ae serve as the foundation of these efforts, while complementary initiatives like Dawamee, Ne’ma, and Active Abu Dhabi address employment, food waste, and community wellness.

Volunteer Salem Khaled bin Bishr shared, “I began my volunteering journey by participating in university events, and today, volunteering has become a part of my lifestyle. It enhances my skills and broadens my horizons.”

Mohammed Al Balooshi added, “Small individual contributions can make a big difference in the lives of others.”

Rauda Al Falasi, Project Manager of the Year of Community, said, “The slogan ‘Hand in Hand’ reflects the spirit of the UAE in compassion and unity. Volunteering is a driving force in building a more cohesive and sustainable society, and we are proud to partner with Emirates Foundation to realise this ambitious vision.”
