YouTube’s 20-year mark highlights MENA’s global creative influence
Over the past three years, the platform has paid out $70 billion USD to creators, artists, and media companies worldwide.

As YouTube marks its 20th anniversary, the platform has released new data showing a sharp rise in high-earning creators across the MENA region.
The number of channels generating seven-figure annual revenues has grown significantly. In Saudi Arabia, channels earning over one million SAR annually increased by 40% as of December 2024. Egypt recorded a 60% rise in channels earning seven figures in EGP, while the UAE saw a 15% increase in those earning seven figures in AED.
This surge reflects YouTube’s growing influence on the global creator economy. Over the past three years, the platform has paid out $70 billion USD to creators, artists, and media companies worldwide.
“As YouTube turns 20, we celebrate the phenomenal work of creators across MENA and their role in driving the region’s popular culture,” said Javid Aslanov, Head of YouTube in MENA. “These creative entrepreneurs skillfully leveraged YouTube’s diverse formats to share their voices and also build thriving businesses that reach global audiences. We’re proud to be able to support them in their journey and can’t wait to see what the next 20 years hold.”
YouTube’s global influence remains strong across the MENA region. In 2024, more than 95% of views on UAE-based channels came from international audiences, while over 60% of views on Egyptian channels originated from outside the country.
Since launching its Arabic interface in 2010 and introducing the YouTube Partner Program in MENA in 2012, the platform has empowered a new generation of creators. Standout successes include Saudi comedy shows like Noon Niswa and Masameer, as well as World of Agriculture by Mohamed Abdelhafez, which has garnered over 102 million views.
In May 2024 alone, YouTube reached 20 million people in Saudi Arabia and 7.5 million adults in the UAE. Viewing via connected TVs is also growing rapidly, with 12 million viewers in Saudi Arabia watching YouTube on their televisions.
As YouTube enters its third decade, it continues to invest in creators and spotlight the region’s diverse stories on a global stage.
