Holding the Galaxy Z Fold 7, you notice how much has changed. It no longer feels bulky or delicate. It feels like a phone built for real life.

Now in its sixth generation, the Fold is lighter, sleeker, and more refined. The hinge moves with ease, the crease is less noticeable, and the overall design feels more considered. While a few compromises still exist, this is the most confident version yet. It finally feels ready to be used without a second thought.

SLIMMER, SLEEKER, FINALLY POCKETABLE

This is Samsung’s thinnest and lightest Fold yet. It measures just 4.2 millimeters when open, 8.9 millimeters when closed, and weighs 215 grams. That’s over 20 grams lighter than the previous model, and the difference is immediately noticeable.

The newly applied Armor FlexHinge is significantly thinner, which reduces the visibility of the crease along the foldable display. The outer display now sports a more usable 21:9 aspect ratio, making it feel like a regular smartphone when closed. In short, it finally fits in your pocket, hand, and life.

A BETTER OUTER SCREEN

Samsung has refined the outer display to a 6.5-inch AMOLED panel that feels taller, wider, and more practical. Inside, the 8-inch AMOLED main display with over 90 percent screen-to-body ratio remains as immersive as ever, making it great for multitasking, gaming, and watching content.

The under-display camera blur is gone. Samsung has returned to a traditional hole-punch selfie camera, which feels like the right call. No more ghostly selfies or hazy video calls.

S PEN SUPPORT—GONE, FOR NOW

S Pen support has been dropped to make the phone thinner. For loyal users who enjoyed sketching or annotating on the big screen, it’s a noticeable loss. But for most, it feels like a reasonable tradeoff. The slimmer, lighter design will likely matter more than the missing stylus.

PERFORMANCE: MORE POWER, LESS LAG

Under the hood, the Fold 7 runs on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 Elite chipset with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. In hands-on use, everything feels fast. Apps launch instantly, multitasking is seamless, and One UI 8 feels more responsive than ever.

It’s clear Samsung is building for a multitasking-native user. Someone who might be editing a Google Doc, replying to messages, checking Slack, and streaming video at the same time. And the Fold handles it all without missing a beat.

Samsung borrowed the 200MP main sensor from the Galaxy S24 Ultra and dropped it into the Fold 7, and the result is stellar. In early tests, image quality noticeably improved, especially in low light. It also has a 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto, giving flexibility one would expect from a flagship.

The 4,400mAh battery may not sound huge, but optimization is key here. Paired with the efficient 8 Gen 3 chip, it can manage a full day of regular use, even with the bigger display. Charging remains fast, with wired and wireless support.

The Galaxy Z Fold 7 isn’t just another update. It marks the point where the foldable form factor finally feels credible, polished, and almost conventional. It gives up just enough to deliver real gains in design, usability, and everyday performance.

The Fold 7 is still a premium device, but it no longer feels like you’re paying extra to test the future. You’re paying for something complete and genuinely impressive.
