GCC countries dominate global internet speed test rankings

GCC countries, including the UAE and Kuwait, emerge as global benchmarks for digital connectivity in recent internet speech index.

The October 2024 Speedtest Global Index highlighted the GCC’s leadership in digital connectivity advancements. The UAE secured the top spot regionally and globally with a remarkable mobile internet speed of 428.53 Mbps. Qatar ranked second with speeds of 356.7 Mbps, followed by Kuwait at 258.51 Mbps.

These achievements reflect the region’s sophisticated digital infrastructure and ongoing investments in expanding and enhancing internet connectivity. In the broader MENA region, Morocco and Lebanon also climbed the global rankings, placing 67th and 83rd, respectively, with average internet speeds of 42.5 Mbps and 30.8 Mbps, establishing themselves as regional leaders.

Kuwait’s global ranking in the October 2024 Speedtest Global Index highlights the country’s focused efforts to accelerate its digital economy. GCC countries, including Saudi Arabia, ranked 4th regionally and 11th globally for mobile internet speed and feature state-of-the-art telecommunication infrastructures driving growth on this scale.

With a strong focus on digital innovation and strategic international partnerships, advancements in digital connectivity form a cornerstone of the region’s intricate digital blueprint.
