Entrepreneur and film producer, she is fostering the arts scene in the region and contributing to a ground-up cultural initiative through Cinema Akil, the first arthouse in the Gulf. Through the arthouse built in a repurposed warehouse in Dubai’s creative Alserkal District, Butheina is bringing diverse audiences from around the region to watch independent films that would otherwise have a low chance of reaching them, thus helping local artists and filmmakers to emerge and impact their creative fields.
