As the UAE intensifies its preparations to host the COP28 summit, HH Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, minister of foreign affairs and international cooperation and head of the COP28 UAE Higher Committee, hosted a meeting on how the country can present substantive progress in November next year. The climate summit will take place at Expo City Dubai.

“After the success in gathering the world at Expo 2020 Dubai, the UAE will leverage its outstanding track record as a trusted global convenor to ensure that COP28 will be inclusive, transparent, and pragmatic,” said Sheikh Abdullah.

“COP28 aims to transform and urgently accelerate climate action to meet the commitments the world has made,” he added.

Meanwhile, he emphasized the importance of the MENA region’s contribution to the battle against climate change and the relevance of the region hosting two consecutive climate summits.

He said the UAE aims resolve to lead the process forward through open communication and creative ideas, and through utilizing ground-breaking partnerships and forging consensus among the stakeholders.

Dr. Sultan Al Jaber, Special Envoy for Climate Change, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology, and Vice Chairman of the COP28 UAE Higher Committee, declared that the UAE would collaborate with all partners to quicken climate action to fulfill the pledges that the world has made.
