Dubai is actively working to strengthen its digital economy and is making significant efforts to boost its gaming sector.

During a meeting of the Higher Committee for Future Technology and Digital Economy, chaired by Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the “Dubai Program for Gaming 2023” was officially announced. The program will be under the leadership of the Dubai Future Foundation.

The “Dubai Program for Gaming 2023” has a strategic goal of establishing Dubai as one of the top 10 cities in the global gaming industry. It will primarily concentrate on talent development, content creation, and leveraging advanced technologies.

The initiative seeks to significantly contribute to Dubai’s GDP, with a target of nearly $1 billion by 2033 and is expected to create around 30,000 new job opportunities within the gaming sector.

The program will support developers, designers, programmers, entrepreneurs, and startups in the creative fields.

“Dubai is well-positioned to tap into the vast opportunities within the gaming sector, estimated at approximately $200 billion globally. We are strategically positioned to contribute to advancing emerging trends such as VR and AI, elevating them to provide even more immersive and realistic experiences,” said Sheikh Hamdan.

During the meeting, three new initiatives were launched as part of the Dubai Metaverse Strategy, including the “Metaverse Alliance,” “Metaverse Guidelines,” and “Metaverse Pioneers,” which were approved by Sheikh Hamdan.
