Qatar and Japan update air route agreement to strengthen connectivity
The updated agreement aims to expand aviation cooperation and strengthen air links between the two countries.
Qatar and Japan have signed a memorandum amending their existing Air Services Agreement, including an updated annex covering the air route schedule.
The exchange of official memoranda was signed in Doha by Mohammed bin Faleh Al Hajri, in charge of managing the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority (QCAA), and Naoto Hisajima, Japan’s ambassador to Qatar.
The amendment is intended to strengthen cooperation in civil aviation while supporting the development of air services and connectivity between the two countries.
The agreement comes as Qatar continues to position itself as a major international aviation hub, with Hamad International Airport serving as a key gateway between the Middle East and global markets. Japan, meanwhile, remains an important destination for business and tourism links from the region.
Updating the air route schedule provides a framework for both sides to develop their aviation relationship and respond to changing demand for passenger and commercial air services.
The signing also forms part of wider efforts to deepen bilateral ties between Qatar and Japan. According to the Qatar News Agency, the agreement reflects both countries’ commitment to strengthening cooperation in civil aviation and further enhancing relations.
The updated agreement is expected to provide greater scope for future growth in air connectivity between Qatar and Japan.
