Artificial intelligence adoption is accelerating rapidly in Saudi Arabia, with nearly half of the Kingdom’s internet users now using AI tools.

According to the fifth edition of the Saudi Internet Report, 45.2% of internet users in Saudi Arabia use AI tools, more than double the rate recorded a year earlier, Arabian Business reported.

The findings, released by Saudi Arabia’s Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST), come as the Kingdom pushes ahead with its broader digital transformation ambitions and marks 2026 as the “Year of Artificial Intelligence.”

Women are leading the shift. AI usage among female internet users reached 52.8%, compared with 39.4% among male internet users.

Younger users are also driving adoption. More than half (55.7%) of internet users aged 20 to 29 use AI tools, while adoption among those aged 10 to 19 stands at 53.4%.

Usage declines significantly among older demographics. Around 27.4% of internet users aged 50 to 59 use AI, falling to 14.8% among those aged 60 to 74.

ChatGPT has emerged as the most-downloaded AI application in Saudi Arabia, followed by Google Gemini and DeepSeek. The national HUMAIN platform also featured among the AI applications highlighted in the report.

The rise in AI adoption comes alongside broader gains in digital access across the Kingdom. Internet usage among people aged 60 to 74 increased from 88.9% in 2024 to 92.8% in 2025, narrowing the digital divide among older users.

Saudi Arabia has been investing heavily in AI infrastructure, digital services and emerging technologies as it seeks to build a technology-driven economy under Vision 2030.

The Kingdom also ranked first globally in the International Telecommunication Union’s Digital Readiness Framework 2025, according to the report, highlighting its progress in building the infrastructure and capabilities needed to accelerate digital transformation.

The latest figures suggest AI is increasingly becoming part of everyday internet use in Saudi Arabia, particularly among younger generations, as the Kingdom looks to position the technology at the center of its next phase of digital growth.
