Dubai records 348 million public transport and mobility journeys in H1 2026

Dubai’s public transport network and mobility services recorded nearly 350 million passenger journeys in the first half of 2026, highlighting sustained demand for the emirate’s expanding transport ecosystem.

The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) said 348.1 million passenger journeys were made across public transport, taxis, and shared mobility services between January and June 2026. The total includes the Dubai Metro, Dubai Tram, public buses, marine transport, taxis, and shared mobility options such as ride-hailing vehicles, hourly rental cars, and on-demand buses.

The Dubai Metro remained the backbone of the network, carrying 136.5 million passengers during the six-month period. Taxis followed with 88.9 million passenger journeys, while public buses transported 85.1 million passengers.

Marine transport services recorded 8.1 million passenger journeys, the Dubai Tram carried 3.8 million passengers, and shared mobility services accounted for 25.7 million trips.

On average, around 1.9 million passenger journeys were recorded each day across Dubai’s public transport, taxi, and shared mobility network during the first half of the year.

January was the busiest month, with 73.4 million passenger journeys. Monthly ridership during the remainder of the period ranged from 49 million to 66 million journeys.

Separately, luxury transport services, including limousine operators, carried 5.7 million passengers during the first six months of 2026.

The latest figures highlight continued growth in Dubai’s multimodal transport network as the emirate invests in public transit and alternative mobility solutions to support a growing population, rising tourism, and expanding economic activity.
