UAE unveils NOVA, an AI initiative designed to transform education governance
The initiative aims to streamline workflows, enhance decision-making, and build a smarter, more agile education ecosystem through artificial intelligence.
The UAE Ministry of Education (MoE) has launched NOVA, a new artificial intelligence-powered initiative designed to accelerate institutional transformation and modernize government operations across the education sector.
Aligned with the UAE’s broader ambitions to expand AI adoption across government services, the project seeks to strengthen the country’s position as a global leader in digital innovation while improving the readiness of public institutions to address future challenges.
The initiative forms part of the Ministry’s ongoing efforts to build a more integrated and efficient operating model. By leveraging AI and advanced data technologies, NOVA is expected to convert data into actionable insights that support faster decision-making, improve service delivery, and enhance educational outcomes for students, teachers, schools, and parents.
“The NOVA project embodies MoE’s commitment to implementing the directions of the UAE leadership to incorporate AI and advanced data technologies into government operations,” said Sarah Al Amiri, Minister of Education. “The initiative marks a new phase of government innovation by redesigning and streamlining processes.”
Al Amiri noted that education systems globally are undergoing rapid transformation, requiring institutions to become more adaptive and responsive to evolving needs.
“AI-driven digital transformation is no longer an optional tactic but a national and institutional necessity, as it empowers the education sector to keep pace with constant changes,” she said. “In this context, the NOVA project represents a strategic shift toward a more agile business model, whose true value lies in investing in people and developing national capabilities to use AI responsibly and effectively.”
The project builds on a series of digital transformation initiatives and technology investments previously implemented by the Ministry, according to Eng. Mohammed Al Qasim, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education.
He said NOVA aims to unify institutional workflows across the Ministry and the wider education ecosystem while fostering greater transparency through the use of reliable data, intelligent systems, and advanced digital services.
The initiative is also aligned with the UAE’s long-term vision of developing a technology-driven education system that equips future generations with critical skills while enhancing the nation’s global competitiveness.
As governments worldwide increasingly integrate AI into public services, NOVA signals the Ministry’s intent to move beyond digitization toward a more data-driven and proactive model of governance, placing artificial intelligence at the center of educational transformation.
