Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has signed a cooperation agreement with the Jebel Ali Free Zone Authority (JAFZA) to strengthen regulatory integration and support the implementation of Law No. (4) of 2021, which governs roads in the emirate.

The agreement aims to advance Dubai’s strategic goals of enhancing road safety, improving service standards across the road network, and ensuring infrastructure projects are delivered in line with approved regulatory requirements.

The agreement was signed by Hussain Al Banna, CEO of the Traffic and Roads Agency at RTA, and Abdulla Al Hashmi, Chief Operating Officer, Parks and Zones, DP World GCC.

Al Banna said the agreement is part of RTA’s ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure within road rights-of-way across Dubai, including in development areas and free zones, while preserving the emirate’s urban character and visual identity.

He added that the partnership will help align plans and strategies governing the roads sector through a unified framework for implementation and oversight, supporting the continued expansion and improvement of Dubai’s road network.

According to Al Banna, the agreement also underscores the importance of collaboration between RTA, developers, and strategic partners to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of road infrastructure. It will further support the management and operation of road rights-of-way, related facilities, and pavements in accordance with approved standards and international best practices.

Al Hashmi said the agreement reflects JAFZA’s commitment to supporting Dubai’s efforts to strengthen road safety and operational excellence.

He added that DP World will continue aligning its development plans with approved regulations and standards while deepening cooperation to deliver sustainable infrastructure that supports economic growth and provides a safe and efficient environment for businesses and residents.

The agreement forms part of a broader RTA program to establish partnerships with developers and free zone authorities across Dubai.

RTA has already signed similar agreements with organizations, including Dubai Maritime City, Union Properties, Dubai Sports City, Wasl Properties, Emaar Properties, DAMAC Properties, Majid Al Futtaim Properties, Nshama, Al Futtaim Real Estate, Dubai Multi Commodities Center (DMCC), Dubai Healthcare City Authority, Dubai Investments Park, and the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ).
