Understanding the potential of Artificial Intelligence, the UAE has been investing heavily in the technology and launched various initiatives. Now, the country has launched a guide for government organizations to help them use AI in all sectors, from education, healthcare to transportation. The UAE’s Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications Office released the guide on April 30, 2023.

“The adoption of ChatGPT can be readily integrated, exemplifying the UAE’s efforts to design and establish policies and regulations that align with future approaches,” the government body said.

The guide consists of a detailed description of generative AI. It throws light on the challenges and opportunities of numerous digital technologies while also providing recommendations for their best use and approaches for effective management. It also emphasizes the importance of data privacy. It also shows how AI can assist in text generation and the composition of music and images, along with many more examples highlighting its potential in fields like education, healthcare, and transportation.

Omar Al Olama, Minister of State for Digital Economy, AI and Remote Working Systems, said that leveraging generative AI applications, such as ChatGPT, is an important step towards seizing significant futuristic opportunities in sectors like education, health care, and well-being. AI can potentially improve productivity and development and make transformative changes in these sectors.

He added that the UAE government is committed to staying ahead of the curve in the technology and AI sectors by designing proactive strategies, working on legislative and regulatory frameworks to limit the negative use of tech, overcoming these technologies’ challenges, and adopting the latest digital advancements.

“The adoption of ChatGPT can be readily integrated, exemplifying the UAE’s efforts to design and establish policies and regulations that align with future approaches,” the government body said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Sultan Ahmed Al Jaber, UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and President-Designate of COP28 said AI adoption across industries will help meet the nation’s goals in advancing technology and diversifying its economy during his visit to the Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence.

He added that AI can help tackle climate change by providing viable solutions to major problems by assisting the UAE in its net-zero strategies by 2050 by reducing carbon emissions and making industries more energy-efficient.

According to a March report by the Boston Consulting Group, expenditure on technology in the UAE is expected to reach $20 billion. This includes IT, telecoms, and emerging tech such as AI, Internet of Things, blockchain, and robotics.
