Gen AI is making strides in automating routine tasks and refining project management processes, allowing firms to concentrate on strategic growth in Saudi Arabia. Despite the impact of emerging tech in improving decision-making, efficiency, resource utilization, and compliance, the digital shift is not without its challenges, as per a recent PwC report titled Digital acceleration: Fueling the ambition for transformation success in Saudi Arabia.

According to the survey findings, 90% of the participants pinpointed the availability of resources and the need for timely decision support as the primary obstacles in their transformation journey; this was closely followed by resistance to change (80%), lack of data (70%), resource skill sets (55%), time and digital constraints (50%), and financial limitations (30%). Other noted challenges include the demand for skilled labor, cultural hurdles, and the impact of global economic shifts on the transformation’s pace and scale.

“As the kingdom and the wider region pursue long-term sustainability and development, effective transformation strategies are crucial to navigating modern global markets’ complexities, harnessing opportunities, and overcoming challenges for sustainable growth. Our research highlights that achieving these goals is not simple. This is where digital technologies, particularly GenAI, can be influential in streamlining decision-making and execution processes,” said Danny Karam, who leads the Transformation Management Unit – Digital & Technology at PwC Middle East.

Furthermore, GenAI facilitates the strategic incorporation of real-time data and advanced training programs, which are crucial for transformation agendas. It also aids in analyzing vast data sets, pinpointing operational efficiencies and trends, and setting new industry standards.

The report highlights the Saudi National Events Centre (NEC) as a success story, showcasing the effective integration of digital technologies to boost transformation. By utilizing the capabilities of PwC Middle East’s Transform Hub, the NEC has positioned itself as a leader in creating premier events and experiences in Saudi Arabia and beyond.
