Qatar and Sweden boost tech cooperation with new partnerships
A Swedish delegation is exploring Qatar’s tech scene at Web Summit 2025 to forge an innovation partnership.

Swedish Ambassador to Qatar, H E Gautam Bhattacharyya, told The Peninsula that the timing of the visit is “perfect,” highlighting the maturation of the Qatar-Sweden relationship following high-profile visits by both heads of state. “While we’ve had delegations and contacts before, now things are becoming more concrete,” said Ambassador Bhattacharyya.
The visit builds on a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between SISP and the QRDI Council during the Amir’s 2024 visit to Sweden, aimed at strengthening startup collaboration and incubation.
The delegation is focused on establishing tangible commercial partnerships, with Ignite Sweden facilitating matchmaking between Qatari corporations and Swedish startups for investment, pilot projects, joint ventures, and R&D collaborations.
A notable example is the MoU between Swedish firm Graphmatech and Qatar-based AiSciA Informatics, which aims to accelerate sustainable materials innovation by combining graphene expertise with AI-powered materials discovery.
