Emirati women are playing an increasingly significant role in Abu Dhabi’s capital markets, with nearly 125,000 active female Emirati investors participating in the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX).

According to ADX data, Emirati women held approximately AED 39 billion ($10.6 billion) in shares on the exchange as of the end of July 2026, accounting for 94% of the total value of shares held by female investors.

The figures were highlighted as ADX Group marked Emirati Women’s Day with a bell-ringing ceremony honoring its female employees, their mothers, and grandmothers.

Held under this year’s theme, “We Emerge Stronger and Better,” the event comes as the UAE marks the Year of Family, highlighting the role of financial literacy, long-term investing, and financial stewardship in building sustainable family wealth across generations.

“Emirati women continue to advance our economy with exceptional resilience, determination, and ambition,” said Abdulla Salem Alnuaimi, Group Chief Executive Officer of ADX Group.

“As a dynamic, multi-asset exchange, ADX is building the infrastructure and access that allow this leadership to compound, both among the investors who trade on our platform and the 40 percent of our own workforce who are women shaping how this exchange operates,” he added.

Women currently account for 40% of ADX’s workforce. The exchange said it supports female professionals through structured career development and advancement initiatives across different levels of the organization.

Alnuaimi said strengthening financial knowledge and participation among the next generation of Emirati women would remain important to developing the UAE’s capital markets.

“Our task now is to ensure the next generation of Emirati women inherits a robust and thriving market that is built with their leadership, financial knowledge and empowerment,” he said.

As part of the ceremony, ADX invited the mothers and grandmothers of employees onto its trading floor, highlighting the intergenerational connection in building wealth and developing financial knowledge.

The exchange said increasing women’s participation as both investors and professionals forms part of its broader efforts to support financial empowerment and the long-term sustainability of the UAE economy.
