Oman’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals has launched a new initiative to develop an integrated digital supply chain platform for the energy sector, aimed at streamlining procurement, improving contract management, and enhancing spending efficiency across an industry that manages annual supply contracts worth more than RO4 billion ($10.4 billion).

The project was unveiled during its inaugural meeting, chaired by Undersecretary Mohsen Hamad Al Hadrami, and will initially be led by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) before being expanded to other energy companies and government entities. The sector currently oversees more than 6,000 suppliers and contractors and issues over 600 tenders annually, according to Trade Arabia.

According to the ministry, the digital platform will enhance transparency, governance, risk management, and data-driven decision-making by integrating artificial intelligence and advanced analytics into supply chain operations.

The initiative is also expected to strengthen the monitoring of local content, create new opportunities for Omani businesses, and lay the foundation for a digital marketplace connecting suppliers across the energy sector.

The project aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 by accelerating digital transformation, boosting the energy industry’s competitiveness, and supporting the country’s broader economic development agenda.
