Dubai has taken a significant step towards becoming a global leader in AI-powered government operations.

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, announced the appointment of 22 Chief Artificial Intelligence Officers (CAIOs) across various government entities.

These new leaders will develop and implement specialized plans and programs leveraging AI and advanced technologies.

“This initiative will enhance Dubai’s progress and expertise in this sector and consolidate its position as a leader in creating innovative solutions built on advanced technology,” said Sheikh Hamdan.

The CAIO appointments align with the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence (DUB.AI), a strategic roadmap to improve resident life, establish Dubai as a future-ready city, and solidify its status as a global hub for innovation.

“The appointment of the new Chief AI Officers in the Dubai government marks the initial phase toward realizing our vision for the future of government work, in line with the Dubai Universal Blueprint for Artificial Intelligence,” Sheikh Hamdan added. “We are confident that these officers will intensify their efforts and go the extra mile in translating our vision into reality.”

DUB.AI seeks to solidify Dubai’s position as a leader in AI governance and adoption across various sectors. This initiative further strengthens Dubai’s ranking in the Global AI Readiness Index, which currently sits in the top 10.

The newly appointed CAIOs will represent a wide range of Dubai government entities, including the Community Development Authority, the Dubai Government Human Resources Department, Dubai Customs, Dubai Police, The Judicial Council, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, and many more.
