Qatar Investment Authority expands global market reach with $20 billion J.P. Morgan partnership

Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and J.P. Morgan Asset Management have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to establish a $20 billion strategic investment partnership spanning public and private markets.

The partnership will initially comprise a $15 billion public equities mandate to support QIA’s long-term investment objectives and a $5 billion private markets initiative focused on financing established middle-market companies in the United States.

Under the public equities mandate, J.P. Morgan Asset Management will manage customized global equity portfolios for QIA, drawing on its active equity investment capabilities, global investment platform and research resources.

The private markets initiative will see both institutions provide senior financing to US middle-market companies, with a focus on the industrials, services, healthcare and technology sectors.

The partnership aims to combine QIA’s long-term institutional investment approach with J.P. Morgan Asset Management’s global investment expertise to identify opportunities across public and private markets and generate sustainable long-term value.

Mohammed Saif Al-Sowaidi, CEO of QIA, highlighted the importance of expanding the sovereign wealth fund’s relationship with J.P. Morgan Asset Management and gaining access to its global equities and private credit platforms.

He said the collaboration would help both institutions explore new investment opportunities through continued investment dialogue, joint programs and the exchange of ideas.

Mary Callahan Erdoes, CEO of J.P. Morgan Asset and Wealth Management, said the firm would support QIA’s role as a global institutional investor by providing customized investment solutions tailored to its objectives.

The agreement is expected to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions and expand their ability to pursue investment opportunities in global equities and US private markets.
