UAE presents global vision for sustainable development beyond 2030
Produced by the UAE’s National Committee on SDGs, the report draws from the 2025 World Government Summit and features insights from 55 countries.

As the global community looks beyond the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the UAE has taken a forward-looking step by launching the 2025 edition of the 2045 SDG Report. The announcement was made at the United Nations Headquarters in New York during the High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) on Sustainable Development 2025, organized by the UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs.
Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Assistant Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange and Chair of the National Committee on SDGs, welcomed attendees, including UN officials and representatives from Eswatini, Paraguay, Brunei, and Ethiopia. Opening remarks were delivered by Ambassador Mohamed Abushahab, the UAE’s Permanent Representative to the UN.
Produced by the UAE’s National Committee on SDGs, the report draws insights from key platforms including the 2025 World Government Summit, the 2045 SDG Roundtable at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, and the UAE-led 2045 SDG Global Survey, which gathered responses from 55 countries.
Titled “Envisioning 2045: Comprehensive Pathways towards Sustainable Development,” the report outlines five strategic priorities: redefining the SDGs for 2045, future-proofing societies, strengthening global leadership, accelerating development transitions, and fostering a shared international vision.
“This report reflects the UAE’s approach – anticipating challenges, strengthening global partnerships, and designing innovative solutions grounded in research, data, and evidence,” said Lootah. “The UAE is committed to building early global consensus on the 2045 SDG framework, building on lessons learned from the 2030 goals to create a more sustainable and equitable future for all.”
The survey results revealed strong global support for reimagining sustainable development. A significant 94.7% of participants endorsed moving beyond traditional economic indicators, while 85.4% emphasized the importance of participatory decision-making. Most respondents also supported AI-driven development, adaptable goals, and greater multi-sector collaboration.
The UAE’s initiatives closely aligned with this year’s HLPF focus on five key Sustainable Development Goals: health, gender equality, economic growth, ocean sustainability, and global partnerships. This highlights the country’s continued leadership in shaping the future of sustainable development.
