To claim a higher stake in the EV segment currently dominated by Tesla, BMW’s new all-electric model is reflective of the company’s commitment to sustainability.
The i7 series marks the third EV by the German luxury brand, following the iX crossover and i4 midsize sedan. Since 2021, the BMW Group has been procuring aluminum manufactured in the UAE through solar power for the casings of the latest-generation electric motors fitted in the BMW i7.
The new 7-Series exterior marks a shift in BMW’s design language, featuring a more muscular design compared to the smoother exteriors of current models with sleeker lines.
The interior design also reflects the “balance between driving dynamics and traveling comfort” that marks out the BMW 7 Series in its latest generation, the company said in a statement. With the BMW Curved Display fully digital screen grouping, additional My Modes, the all-new BMW Interaction Bar, and the newly designed gear selector, the cockpit enables a seamless driving experience for users.
In terms of passenger experience, the second row with extra spaciousness features a BMW Theatre Screen with upgraded seats and an enhanced reclining function.
Additionally, the 7-Series has a 12.3-inch information display behind the steering wheel and a 14.9-inch control display screen. The front instrumental panel below the main screen features a “BMW Interaction Bar” with climate control, ventilation, and more.
Starting prices for the 2023 BMW 7-Series begin at $93,300 for a 740i with a 3.0-liter, twin-turbo six-cylinder engine to $119,300 for the electric i7 xDrive60. The 760i xDrive model powered by a V-8 engine starts at $113,600. According to the company, the non-EV versions feature a mild hybrid system to improve performance and fuel economy.
The new models from the 7-Series that will be available in the Middle East soon include the BMW i7 xDrive60; BMW 735i, BMW TwinPower Turbo, BMW 740i, and BMW 760i xDrive. Customers can expect enhanced performance ranging per model. The i7′s two electric motors produce a combined output of 536 horsepower and 549 pound-foot of torque. The vehicle is estimated to be capable of traveling 300 miles on a single charge, and accelerating from 0-60 mph in about 4.5 seconds, as per the company’s press release.
Meanwhile, vehicles with the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V-8 engine produce a combined output of 536 horsepower and 553 pound-foot of torque. The V-8 model is expected to achieve 0-60 mph in 4.2 seconds.
