Tom Cruise returned to Abu Dhabi for Sunday’s newest Mission: Impossible film. Landing in Abu Dhabi’s International airport’s Midfield Terminal, where parts of the movie were shot, Cruise arrived a day ahead of the film’s Middle East premiere of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One today at the Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental. 

Along with Cruise, several of the film’s talents are expected to attend today’s premiere, including director Christopher McQuarrie and stars Simon Pegg, Hayley Atwell, and Pom Klementieff.

Elena Sorlini, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Abu Dhabi Airports, said, “We’re proud of our role in the film and our contribution to Abu Dhabi as a destination that attracts global talent. The scenes showcased in the movie are a testament to the architecture, scale, and design of the iconic Midfield Terminal, inspired by the cultural elements of Abu Dhabi.”

The Midfield Terminal’s structure was decorated with a Mission: Impossible theme for the film’s premiere – Cruise unveiled the new livery on an Etihad Airways Boeing 787 Dreamliner that features Mission: Impossible branding on its engines.

According to reports, one of the film’s most technically complex action scenes was shot on the 315-meter roof of the building. An Etihad First Class Lounge set was created.

This marks the second Mission Impossible movie filmed in Abu Dhabi, with 2018 being the first time and featuring a sky-diving scene with the help of the UAE Military, Abu Dhabi Film Commission, and twofour54. 

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One will be released in the UAE on July 13.
