Qatar Airways tops 2024 world’s best airlines list
Etihad Airways and Emirates also secured spots in the Top 10.
In a year when the airline industry is undergoing a remarkable ascent – passenger traffic is booming, airlines are expanding fleets, with ambitious regional and global connectivity schemes taking shape, AirlineRatings.com has revealed its much-anticipated list of the world’s best airlines for 2024.
Qatar Airways topped the chart for 2024. Thanks to its superior service and innovation, Qatar Airways was named the airline of the year. This win positions Qatar Airways ahead of Air New Zealand, which topped the list in 2023.
Judged by a panel of experienced industry veterans, the AirlineRatings.com awards consider factors beyond safety. Fleet age, passenger reviews, profitability, product rating, innovation, and future aircraft orders are all considered.
“Qatar Airways came out number one in many key areas,” said AirlineRatings.com Editor-in-Chief Geoffrey Thomas. “Passenger reviews, however, scored Qatar Airways ahead of all airlines, and its consistency and high standard of service delivery came through in the feedback.”
Qatar Airways CEO Badr Mohammed Al Meer echoed this sentiment: “We, at Qatar Airways, stand for delivering exceptional customer experiences, and it is always reaffirming to be recognized for our relentless pursuit of service excellence.”
While Qatar Airways claimed the top prize, other airlines from the region were also in the top 10 – Emirates came in at number 5 (best in-flight entertainment, best premium economy), and Etihad Airways ranked eighth (best environmental airline).
Other airlines that received well-deserved recognition and secured spots in the prestigious top ten are Korean Air (number 2), Cathay Pacific Airways (number 3), Air New Zealand (number 4), Air France/KLM (number 6), All Nippon Airways (number 7), Qantas (number 9), and Virgin Australia/Atlantic (number 10).
Beyond the top honor, Qatar Airways also secured the Best Business Class award for the fifth consecutive year, along with Best Catering.
Air New Zealand took home the award for Best Economy Class, while Singapore Airlines and Virgin Australia were recognized for Best First Class and Best Cabin Crew, respectively.
Emirates reigned supreme for in-flight entertainment and premium economy experiences. Qantas secured the award for Best Lounges, while Etihad Airways continued its three-year winning streak for Best Environmental Airline.
