Qatar Airways launches upgraded business class seat
The new business class seat will be ready by Q4 2025.
Qatar Airways unveiled an upgraded version of its business-class product, QSuite, at the Farnborough Airshow. The QSuite Next-Gen aims to build on that success with wider suites and a new face-to-face seating configuration. It will be available onboard the airline’s Boeing 777X and Airbus A350 jets.Â
In June, the Doha-based carrier won Skytrax’s best airline and business class awards.
Xia Cai, Qatar Airways’ senior vice president of product development, announced that the new business class seat will be ready for use by Q4 2025. “It is a challenge, but we are confident it will be delivered on time,” she said.
At the event, Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, the CEO of Qatar Airways, stated that the airline has focused on the passenger experience for many years.
The new QSuites will be wider, with more shoulder and leg room and even wider lie-flat beds. Furthermore, according to the carrier, the seat could be adjusted to give passengers as much privacy as they need.
Qatar Airways also stated that Starlink would be available for its customers, including for those flying on the new QSuites
The new business class suite will feature movable 4K OLED Panasonic Astrova IFE screens that can be repositioned to the side. This allows up to four passengers in the Quad Suite and two in the Companion Suite to view together.Â
The Qsuite also includes larger lie-flat and double beds, a “make my bed” feature, larger space for an enhanced dining experience, and more privacy with taller, digitally controlled dividers.
The airline is also considering making the doors on Qatar Airways’ new business class cabin taller and lighter for greater privacy and environmental sustainability.
“I don’t see anybody that can come with a product in the next 10 years that can come close, in terms of space, comfort, and the experience of being in social travel,” said Cai.
At the Farnborough International Airshow, Qatar Airways also announced that its significant order of Boeing 777X aircraft has been expanded to include an impressive 20 Boeing 777-9s. This is in addition to its existing order of 40 Boeing 777-9 commercial aircraft, bringing the total to 94 commercial and cargo Boeing 777X aircraft.Â
