The Omani government has made significant progress toward its 2024 employment targets, achieving 54% of its goal in the first half of the year. According to a statement from the Ministry of Labor, reported by the Oman News Agency, 14,074 Omanis were employed across both the public and private sectors.

In the public sector, 6,963 Omanis were employed, exceeding the mid-year target of 10,000. In the private sector, 7,111 individuals secured jobs out of a target of 16,000.

Additionally, 305 Omanis completed employment training programs in the government sector, while 1,107 out of a target of 7,000 completed training in the private sector.

The ministry remains committed to expanding employment opportunities for Omani citizens across various sectors and aims to continue its efforts to meet and exceed its employment goals.

These initiatives align with a broader strategy to regulate the labor market, enhance the national workforce, and support the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

In addition to employment progress, Oman’s economic performance showed positive signs. Non-oil activity rose by nearly 4% in Q1 2024. During the same period, the country’s GDP increased by 0.8% year-on-year, reaching $27 billion, according to data from the National Centre for Statistics and Information.
