Dubai Municipality has successfully completed seven significant beautification projects along Sheikh Zayed and Al Khail Roads, marking a significant step towards the emirate’s ambitious “Green Dubai” initiative.

The $66.7 million project, launched under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has transformed 1.4 million square meters of urban landscape.

The initiative involved the planting of over 2.5 million flowers and ornamental plants, as well as 6,500 trees, all supported by sustainable irrigation systems.

Dubai Municipality Director General Dawoud Al Hajri said the projects align with the “Green Dubai Project,” emphasizing the city’s commitment to expanding green spaces and enhancing sustainability.

“These projects demonstrate our dedication to developing green infrastructure and fostering a healthy, comfortable environment for residents and visitors, enhancing the quality of life by expanding green spaces, upholding environmental sustainability, and optimizing natural resources through smart irrigation systems that ensure optimal water consumption,” he stated.

The Sheikh Zayed Road project spans 843,000 square meters across four major intersections, while the Al Khail Road project covers 625,000 square meters, featuring 1 million plants and 3,000 trees.

In 2023, Dubai’s green spaces grew to 234 hectares, up from 170 hectares in 2022.
