Partnerships are at the heart of the transition to renewable energy. As the world strives to meet growing energy demands while addressing climate change, collaborations between governments, businesses, and communities are essential for accelerating the deployment and scaling of clean energy solutions. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Oman, in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and Minerals of Oman and KOTRA, recently hosted a “Korea-Oman Renewable Energy Business Roundtable and KSP Kick-off Meeting” in Muscat.

The event brought together government officials, business leaders, and experts from both countries to explore opportunities for cooperation in the renewable energy sector. The meeting was held to commemorate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Oman.

Salim Al Aufi, Oman’s Minister of Energy and Minerals, delivered a keynote speech at the event, highlighting the potential for collaboration between the two countries.

Prominent Omani entities, including Oman Electricity Transmission Company (OETC), Nama Power and Water Procurement Company, HYDROM (Hydrogen Oman), and Oman LNG, participated in the discussions.

Korea was represented by leading energy organizations and companies such as the Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI), Hyosung Heavy Industries, POSCO Holdings, GS Energy, Samsung E&C, and LS Cable & System.

The roundtable explored opportunities to enhance collaboration across the renewable energy value chain, including power production, storage, and transport, as well as the adoption of advanced technologies to improve energy efficiency.

The event also marked the launch of Korea’s 2024-25 Knowledge Sharing Programme (KSP) with Oman, designed to share expertise and best practices for integrating renewable energy into Oman’s national power system more reliably and efficiently.

Korean Ambassador to Oman, KIM Kiejoo, highlighted the significant potential for collaboration between the two nations in renewable energy and expressed optimism about expanding their partnership in the sector.
