Hyundai, in collaboration with its UAE distributor Juma Al Majid Company, has supplied two hydrogen fuel cell buses to Abu Dhabi’s Integrated Transport Centre (ITC) under the emirate’s Green Bus Programme.

The initiative aims to promote sustainable public transportation in the UAE capital by testing hydrogen and electric power technologies for public buses.

As part of the program, the ITC is working with global organizations and manufacturers to identify the most suitable technologies for local conditions. Additionally, it includes specialized training programs to enhance Emirati expertise in hydrogen and electric transportation systems.

Hyundai has positioned itself as a leader in sustainable transportation in the UAE. “The delivery of these advanced hydrogen-powered buses to ITC marks a new chapter in our commitment to promoting clean energy and pioneering technologies in the region,” said Suliman Al Zaben, Director of Hyundai UAE.

Al Zaben noted that this milestone follows the delivery of the first buses in November.

The Abu Dhabi Mobility Green Bus Programme features electric and hydrogen-powered buses operating on city and regional routes.

The programme includes electric and hydrogen buses across city and regional routes, with Hyundai’s Elec City FC operating on City Route 65 and Universe FC on Regional Route 160.

Scheduled to run through 2025, the project marks a significant milestone in Abu Dhabi’s transition to clean energy transportation.
