Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded a $408 million contract for the Al Fay Street Development Project, which aims to enhance east-west connectivity within the emirate.

The project, which will be completed in two phases by 2027 and 2028, will extend Al Fay Street from its intersection with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road, passing through Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, and connecting to Emirates Road.

The development will include five key intersections, along with 13,500 meters of bridges and 12,900 meters of new and upgraded roads. Once completed, the enhanced Al Fay Street will accommodate 64,400 vehicles per hour, benefiting an estimated 600,000 residents and visitors in surrounding residential and developmental areas.

“Al Fay Street Development Project is a pivotal infrastructure initiative within Dubai’s Road network,” said Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General and Chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the RTA. “It establishes a new strategic corridor among the emirate’s main roads, significantly enhancing east-west connectivity. Al Fay Street acts as an extension of Al Khail Roads, stretching from its intersection with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Emirates Road.”

Al Tayer mentioned that the project will directly benefit several key areas, including Dubai Sports City, Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai Production City, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Tilal Al Ghaf, DAMAC Lagoons, The Oasis, and Remraam.

These improvements will ensure smooth and direct traffic flow along Al Khail Road toward Emirates Road, facilitate easier movement between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road, and enhance overall road safety and mobility.
