UAE launches Geospatial Data Platform to enhance agriculture and water resource management
The platform aims to cut groundwater use in agriculture by 2% and boost unconventional water use by 8-13% by 2027.
“In light of climate challenges, we must work diligently to develop innovative solutions that improve the efficiency of water use and preserve this life-sustaining resource for future generations,” Al Olama stated. “The platform will strategically help manage and sustain water resources and contribute to the country’s food security and sustainable development.”
Dr. Mohammed Salman Al Hammadi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Food Diversity Sector at MOCCAE, emphasized that food and water security are top priorities for the UAE leadership. He highlighted that MOCCAE works alongside federal, local government, and private sector partners to drive innovation in achieving these goals.
