As the UAE cements its position as a global digital hub, the National Media Office (NMO) has urged social media users to uphold the nation’s values of respect, tolerance, and coexistence in their online interactions.

In an official statement, the NMO stressed the need for ethical and legal responsibility on digital platforms, highlighting strict prohibitions against content that disrespects national symbols, public figures, or friendly nations. It also reaffirmed that legal action will be taken against violations, in coordination with relevant authorities, to maintain a safe and respectful digital space in accordance with UAE laws.

The NMO also warned that spreading misleading information, hate speech, or defamation—whether directly or indirectly—is illegal and carries strict legal penalties. It emphasized that individuals play a crucial role in safeguarding the UAE’s reputation, echoing President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s message that every citizen serves as an ambassador of the nation.

“Every action you take, positive or negative, reflects your Emirati identity. We are all responsible for shaping the reputation of this country, as each of us is a guardian of its honor and standing,” he said.

The NMO urged social media users to share content responsibly and reaffirmed its commitment to working with authorities to monitor and address violations. It encouraged the public to report offensive or non-compliant content through official channels, reinforcing efforts to maintain a credible and respectful digital space.

It also highlighted the importance of upholding the UAE’s ethical standards, calling on citizens to embody the wisdom and values of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The office encouraged constructive dialogue and respectful communication, discouraging the use of offensive language in online interactions.
