UAE team clinches Most Inspirational award at NASA challenge

The winning teams will be honored at a ceremony on June 4th at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, USA.

The NASA Space Apps Challenge 2024 has revealed its ten global winners, with the UAE team INNOVISIONARIES achieving a remarkable milestone by winning the Most Inspirational Team award.

The challenge attracted 93,000 participants from 15 teams, with 10,000 innovative projects submitted from 163 countries. After fierce competition, the UAE team emerged victorious, partnering with Dubai University and technical partner SPACE.TAYAR for the event.

The Sharjah-based team, the only UAE winner, developed an educational initiative aimed at teaching high school students about sustainable development goals. This program could be integrated into science lessons covering topics such as weather, geology, and soil health.

Dr. Issa Al Bastaki, President of Dubai University, emphasized the significance of such competitions in nurturing creativity and innovation, highlighting the UAE’s dedication to advancing innovation in line with its national strategy.

Tareq Salah Al-Din, CEO of GIE, commented that the NASA challenge plays a crucial role in encouraging innovation across all age groups and advancing space technology. This year’s challenge saw participation from 202 teams across various UAE regions, including Dubai, Sharjah, and Ajman.
