UAE and China strengthen economic ties at AIM Congress 2025

The UAE and China have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic ties at the “Invest in China, Guangxi” session held during the AIM Congress 2025 in Abu Dhabi.

Organized in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Government of Guangxi, the session focused on expanding trade and investment opportunities. It drew senior government officials, prominent business leaders, and global investors, highlighting the growing momentum of UAE–China cooperation.

Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, UAE Minister of Economy, emphasized the strength of UAE–China relations, describing them as a model of successful strategic partnerships rooted in diversity and innovation. He reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to deepening economic ties with China and highlighted the Belt and Road Initiative as a key driver of regional and global cooperation. He also praised Guangxi’s strategic location and its growing economic potential as a gateway to Southeast Asia.

Bin Touq noted that SMEs are a key area of collaboration between the two nations. He highlighted the growing presence of Chinese businesses in the UAE, with over 15,500 Chinese companies operating in free zones and industrial hubs.

Lan Tianli, Governor of Guangxi, praised the UAE’s leadership in fostering international economic partnerships. He emphasized Guangxi’s strategic location and its commitment to strengthening ties with the UAE in trade, investment, and infrastructure. He also noted that the session aimed to explore new opportunities for sustainable growth through the Belt and Road Initiative.

Khaled Al Fahim, Board Member of the Abu Dhabi Chamber, reiterated the UAE’s dedication to enhancing trade and investment with China, highlighting Guangxi’s economic potential. Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, UAE Ambassador to China, encouraged businesses to seize emerging opportunities for sustainable growth.

The session featured presentations from institutions such as the World Free Zones Organization and the Guangxi Pilot Free Trade Zone, showcasing Guangxi’s expanding trade capabilities and global economic integration. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to enhance cooperation in trade, research, and innovation.
