In a major step toward sustainable urban transport, Egypt has officially licensed Green Valley Electric Vehicle Services Company to launch electric passenger transport services powered by smart technology. The agreement, witnessed by Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel Al-Wazir, highlights Egypt’s growing commitment to clean energy and digital transformation in public mobility.

The license, issued by the Land Transport Regulatory Authority, supports Egypt’s national strategy to reduce carbon emissions and modernize transport infrastructure. Al-Wazir emphasized the initiative’s importance in advancing efforts to minimize environmental impact while embracing innovative solutions.

The project’s first phase will involve the rollout of 100 electric vehicles across Cairo and Giza, laying the groundwork for future expansion to other governorates. Al-Wazir said the initiative “plays a vital role in promoting environmentally responsible transport” and reinforces Egypt’s ambition to become a regional hub for advanced technologies.

He also reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to international collaboration in key sectors, particularly transportation and manufacturing, and emphasized the importance of localizing the production of electric vehicles and chargers. He described the EV sector as “a promising area for investment and a priority within Egypt’s industrial development agenda under the directives of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi.”

Green Valley Chairperson Riad Salem confirmed that the company is actively pursuing partnerships to support domestic manufacturing of electric vehicles and chargers. He stated, “Green Valley aims to offer a modern and secure smart mobility experience through its integrated transport services platform, JTNY.”

The JTNY app allows users to book rides, track trips in real time, and make cashless payments. It also facilitates efficient communication between drivers and operations centers. An intelligent monitoring system helps maintain consistent service quality, supported by a robust digital infrastructure and a network of strategically located charging stations across Cairo and Giza.

Salem added that Green Valley emphasizes service quality and professionalism, noting that drivers undergo a rigorous multi-stage selection process and continuous assessments in both driving and customer service.
