Sheikh Mohammed reflects on life and leadership in new book Almatani Alhayah
The book features Sheikh Mohammed’s reflections on governance, public affairs, and lessons from six decades in service.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai, has announced the release of the first part of his new book, Almatani Alhayah (Arabic for Life Taught Me).
The book, which will be available in bookstores on September 25, comprises 35 chapters recounting pivotal moments from Sheikh Mohammed’s leadership journey and intellectual outlook. It offers reflections on governance, public affairs, and broader lessons drawn from his six decades of public service.
According to Sheikh Mohammed, the book aims to serve as a lasting reference for current and future generations. “The best legacy we leave behind is not wealth, nor buildings and structures, but true wisdom, beneficial knowledge, and kind words that transcend borders and time, and from which all people may benefit,” he wrote.
In the introduction, Sheikh Mohammed reflects on his nearly 60 years in governance, marked by achievements and challenges, personal losses and gains, and the transformation of the UAE into “a nation that has become a source of global admiration.”
He notes that his intent was to write in a style that is “simple in its words, candid in its expression, and genuine in its meaning—so that it may touch hearts directly.”
The book shares both personal and professional lessons, with Sheikh Mohammed acknowledging human imperfection while underscoring his lifelong dedication to his country, people, and family. “God is my witness that I have loved goodness for people and never hesitated in any decision or project that would serve the people and improve their lives,” he writes.
Almatani Alhayah adds to Sheikh Mohammed’s body of published work, which includes My Vision: Challenges in the Race for Excellence, Flashes of Thought, and My Story: 50 Memories from 50 Years of Service.
While his earlier books focused on nation-building, governance, and leadership, the new release emphasizes personal lessons and values drawn from his life and career.
